HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA!

Modern Dungeon Romp 1.1July 1st to July 7th, 2007

I was surprised how many people voted that I should take a vacation (details on my personal blog). This will not really make a difference to the site, as I have material for next week and the week after already prepared (well, sort of) so there should be little impact to regular visitors. This week's release is the 1.1 version of Modern Dungeon Romp, which fixes game slowdowns caused by waiting for animations to finish and adds support for the keyboard for popup windows. I was originally going to have a more difficult dungeon ready, but that still needs a bit of fine tuning so that will be delayed until the week after next.

Thirteen Spikes OSRJuly 8th to July 14th, 2007

Very few people voted, as I suspected would be the case from the subject matter of the vote. I will stick with GPL version 2+ for my open source releases for the next few months then take another look and see how well adopted version 3 is. The vote is directly related to today's release as the release is the open source version of Thirteen Spikes, which is appropriate considering this Friday is/was the 13th. An important vote is taking place this week so make sure you vote.

Last week's poll indicated that visitors would like me to continue working on Coffee Quest Revenge until the 1.0 version is ready instead of the partially implemented 0.1 version. This week I am going to start allowing people or companies to sponsor games. If people other than myself actually do decide to do this (and I have my doubts), then I will be able to spend more time working on site related games and sponsors will have copies of the games they sponsor that they can put on their site a year or more before the particular episode is released as open source. The first game to undergo this treatment is the Deadly Edition of Modern Dungeon Romp, which is being dedicated to Billy Spelchan Senior (my father) as part of his birthday present. And yes, I am charging myself a fee for the sponsorship. More details on sponsoring games will be coming shortly.

Last week's poll indicated that visitors would like me to get the 3D support into Coffee Quest Revenge as quickly as possible. This weeks game, is dedicated to Peggy Petrie. If you or your company want to sponsor an episode of this series, contact me for details. Of course, I am able to keep my promise to release a new episode of One of those Weeks only if I was to release an episode today, so that is what I am doing. While episode 29 of One of those Weeks is a short dream sequence, it does set up the story for the rest of this day so you might want to pay attention.

Entries will appear here as soon as they appear on the homepage.
