Temperance is about moderation in all things. It is about the ability to see both sides of an argument. While a willingness to compromise for a win-win result is an asset, there are times when nothing can be done and you must leave dead dogs where they lie.

The major concerns with aiming for a win-win situation is a tendency to assume that you have to please everybody else but forget about yourself. Such a situation is not win-win but win-lose. Being willing to compromise is only effective if both parties are willing to do so.

When reflecting on this card, it is important to remember that self-control leads to harmony and understanding. Living a virtuous life leads to inner-growth. One of the greatest virtue that seems to be missing in today's rapid-paced society is that of patience.
