Finding your score

If you just followed the walk through that was presented in the previous section, you will have noticed that your final score was only 9 out of a possible 11 points. How do you get 11 points? Actually the scoring in this episode is fairly simple.

The key was hinted at at the end of the previous episode, so anybody playing through the whole series will know that the key exists. For that reason no points are rewarded for picking up the key. As the orange is the goal for the quest that the hermit has sent you on, it is worth a point as a goal has been achieved.

When you get to the plane, there is a secret bonus point that is achieved by looking at the tail of the plane which confirms your theory about the identity of the hermit. Picking up the wire is worth 1 point, as is picking up the copper. Opening the door to the plane using the key you have found is worth a point.

Once inside the cockpit, there is another secret bonus point. This is rewarded for looking at the computer in the plane (which happens to be a very subtle hint at the future direction this story is heading in). Next comes the complex five step process of building a battery (picking up the GPS, putting down the orange, inserting copper, inserting aluminum, attaching the GPS to the fruit battery) with each step being worth a point.

Now if you add up all the individual points, you will end up with 11. In summary, you get 9 points for solving the game and two extra points are rewarded for finding out the identity of the hermit and examining the computer.
