Playing the Game

The goal of the game is to make $5000.00 and this is done by running the hotdog stand. At the start of each day you select which location you want to set up shop in. Most locations charge a fee. Different locations have different numbers of people around them so it may be worth paying for a location. You will probably want to adjust your prices the first day.

The first thing you are going to have to do is get groceries as you start off without any. You can then open your stand for an hours worth of business.

Going shopping takes an hour. There are three stores in the game. The grocery supplier (your dad), the newspaper and the sign maker.

Thanks to the fact that your groceries As groceries are purchased from your dad, you get them at the current wholesale price. Because you often want to buy some of everything, there is an option that lets you buy some of every item. Remember that food spoils.

The newspaper lets you buy ads for the following day. The bigger the add, the more people will pass by your stand.

The sign helps determine how many people will bother buying food from you. The better the sign, the more attractive your booth will be. Signs last the duration of the game but you can always upgrade to a better sign if you don't have the best.

Behind the Game

This game is what is commonly referred to as a spreadsheet game. It provides a simplistic version of running a business. Every time the game is run, the prices and customer preferences are randomly determined so the game will run slightly different every time you play it. Prices also slightly fluctuate from day to day.

I am planning on writing a series of articles explaining how the simulation was written on the Blazing Games Development Blog so if you are interested in this type of thing you may want to check out my blog.
