July 1, 2006 (coming soon blog)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA!

My next post will probably not be until July 4th.

July 4, 2006 (coming soon blog)

Happy Independence Day to my American Visitors. I am posting Friday's game today in case there are problems. I would go into a rant about my Silly Games plans but have to get back to work. As I am in crunch mode for the next couple of weeks (though I will probably take sunday's off as long as I am ahead schedule) I will not be updating this blog very frequently, though will try to get the weekly game out early for readers of this blog.

Lucky ScratchJuly 7, 2006 - Lucky day for you

This is the first of two silly games that I have completed as filler material for this month as I am busy on finishing a third party project. I will have a poll about doing more games in this new silly game collection once I have released the second episode. What is this game today? Lucky Scratch is a scratch and win game where you win a lucky symbol. Every ticket is a winner. Now, it has been a while since I have had a poll, so to make the person who emailed me asking about polls happy, I am going to have one this week. What do you think about my making of articles?

July 9, 2006 (coming soon blog)

As often happens with my plans, things don't always seem to work out the way I hope they will. My original plans was to work Saturday on my third party project and then take Sunday off to work on my new conversation system for One of those Weeks which I was hopping to have ready today. I got invited to a party on saturday, and being a geek this is a rare enough event so I decided to take Saturday off and work on the third party work today. While the new conversation system is delayed a week, I an very close to finishing the third party project and hope to actually have the project finished this week. I probably won't be updating this blog again until next weekend.

OotW 6 OSRJuly 14, 2006 - Meeting deadlines

What can I say? The poll results were roughly 70% for the "don't read the making of articles but you should keep them anyway" and the other 30% were for keeping them. This is a much higher result than I expected and I had expected some people to hate the articles, but that received no votes when I checked before starting on this post. This is actually good news as I won't feel as bad about posting the articles. I will try to make sure there is a game between every open source release or article, but having the articles does give me a bit of extra time on games. There will be a new poll next week as I can't think of one right now. My third party project is not quite finished (even though I was hoping to finish this week) but it is not due until the end of this month and I am way ahead of schedule so I will be taking part of the weekend off to work on my new conversation system for One of those Weeks. Speaking of which, today's release is the Open Source version of Episode 6.

July 16, 2006 (coming soong blog)

The conversation system is going to be a bit more work than I originally anticipated, so I am not going to be able to finish One of those Weeks episode 19 for early release today. My third party project is almost finished, so I amy be able to finish the episode before thursday. If not, I have an alternative game ready. I'll have a better idea wednesday night, so I may have an early post then.

July 19, 2006 (coming soon blog)

I have finished my third party project today and probably could try and finish OotW 19 out the door but figure it is best not to and instead I am releasing my second game in the silly game collection . This game is being posted tonight for those who are loyal enough to follow this blog.

fortune cookieJuly 21, 2006 - Have a cookie

Today's release is not what I was hoping to have today, but at least now I have a very valid poll for this week. This is the second game in my silly stuff collection and is simply a fortune cookie program. Now that I have two games in this series complete, it is possible to get a fair opinion on the important subject of continuing this series. I am simply asking my visitors play through this week's game as well as try out the lucky scratch game. Once you have tried both games answer this week's poll question. Do you think I should create more "games" for the silly stuff collection.

July 24, 2006 (coming soon blog)

Other than posting the site I took the last few days off. Perhaps it is a sign of age (the real sad thing is I'm not that old), but I have found that after putting in overtime for a little over two weeks I was mentally exhausted. Granted, the project I was working on was non-game related so that might of had something to do with my fatigue. Starting tomorrow, I am going to try to get some solid work done on the site.

July 25, 2006 (coming soon blog)

This Friday's release is going to be chapter 6 of the Making of One of those Weeks eBook. I am posting it early for the few people who actually read my development blog.

Chapter 6July 28, 2006 - The Fickle Webmaster

This week’s release is chapter 6 of the Making of One of those Weeks eBook. A vast majority of voters liked the Silly Stuff series, which means I am going to have to make a section for that series. Finally, I have moved my Game Development blog from the coming soon page to a separate site. The new blog supports visitor comments and as it is on my own site (technically Blazing Games Inc. owns this site, I’m just the majority shareholder) I can openly write about anything I want to on the new blog. I got an email asking me if I was going to bring back voting for what is going to be released each week. That wasn’t my original plans, but to be honest, none of my plans for the site have been that stable so I might as well put this to a vote. Should I start having a weekly vote for what get’s released? The vote would be between two items (games or articles/open source releases) with the winning category being released the upcoming week and be replaced in the poll by an item from the opposite group (an article would be replaced by a game entry). I’ll announce the results on a special post Sunday.

July 30, 2006 - Pointless poll

I probably should have just skipped the poll on Friday and went straight to today's vote as I should have known there would be 100% for the voting (even if it isn't the best system). Still, I did get some interesting emails about why the new system is flawed. These will be addressed in my blog on spelchan.com. Today's poll is simple. What do you want to see posted this friday?
