This is a logical puzzle game which is set in my Coffee Quest universe. The events in this game take place during the events of Coffee Quest 4 and Coffee Quest 5 (which has not been released yet but will be released before this decade is out).
Lord Bill has been stricken with some type of magical sickness and only the power of a magical coffee bean can save him. Unfortunately his health is too unstable and quickly getting worse. Wilmag realizes that the only way of keeping him alive is to make potions that neutralize the magic affecting Lord Bill. So while he makes the potions, he will have his apprentice get the magical coffee bean.
Mixing potions isn't easy. Only the correct combination of ingredients in the correct order will work. To make matters worse, the neutralization will only last a short period of time. Then a new potion, requiring more ingredients, must be used.
Clicking on the title screen will take you to the difficulty selection screen. There, you select the difficulty level you wish to play. The difficulty level determines how many components are used in the mix.
Once you have selected the difficulty level, you will be taken to an introductory slide show. Clicking on a slide advances to the next slide. When it is done, you will be taken to the game screen.
The game screen is broken into five sections as outlined in this screen shot.
1. Components. These are the components (ingredients) you use to mix the potion. The number of types of components is based on the difficulty level.
2. Results display. This is where the results of the mix attempt are displayed. While the results are being displayed, you can prepare your next combination but can not mix it until the result display is finished.
3. History. This chart shows all of your previous attempts. You will notice that the list only has a limited number of slots. These are the number of attempts that you have. If you fail to come up with the correct combination before using all your attempts, the correct combination will appear at the bottom of this area.
4. Sound toggle. Click this icon to turn sound on or off.
5 Mixing Area. This is where you prepare the combination of ingredients to use in the next mix. You do this by dragging components from the Components area into the slot you want it placed. You can change an ingredient by dragging a different component over top of it. You can also switch the order of ingredients by dragging the ingredient in one slot over to the slot you want to switch it with. When your combination is ready you mix it by hitting the mix button. The mix button is only active when a valid combination is ready and no result animation is being displayed.
After you mix a set of ingredients, the results of the mix will be shown.
For every ingredient that is not in the mix, a ball of fire will appear. It should be noted that if you have too many of a correct ingredient, the excess ingredients are considered to be incorrect.
When you have a correct ingredient in an incorrect slot, a puff of smoke will result.
All characters and ingredients in this game are fictional. Any resemblance to real objects or people is purely coincidental.
This game is requires Java 1.1 or better to run. Browsers that support 1.1 tend to be 4.x or better versions. Windows XP users may have to download a Java plug in to use Java applets.
