There is no Sound in Space

Most people who are familiar with Blazing Games know that I use sound effects sparingly in my games. This is partly because I personally turn town the volume and listen to music or podcasts when playing a game. Still, adding a bit of sound isn't that difficult to do and all the appropriate sound effects exist in my meager sound effect library. But two things prevented me from adding sound to the game.

First, the actual game-play screen didn't have anything mucking it up. A game that is constantly making sound, as would be the case with this game, needs to have a way of turning off the sound. Sure, the sound toggle could be  on the title screen. Likewise, a keyboard shortcut for would be a possibility. But then the second point came into my mind.

There is no sound in space. Sure, science fiction movies tend to have sound effects and audiences largely expect it. In the real universe, however, sound needs a medium which to propagate through. On Earth, this is the air. In space, there is no air.

While some people may think that my two point are rather pathetic excuses for laziness, but now that the game is open source anybody who wants to can add sound effects.
