Getting in the Fork Lift

As with some of the other games in this series, I originally planned out this puzzle by working backwards. I started with the end results and then moved the crates backwards a number of moves until they ended up in the starting positions that they are now in. This method guarantees that there is at least one solution to the puzzle though in this particular puzzle there are other solutions as well. In fact, as mentioned in the previous section, when testing the game I actually came up with a better solution. For those who are wondering, below is an image showing my original solution to the game.

Flashlight Mask

Push the blue crate down then push it to the right. Next push the green crate to the left. The red crate gets pushed up, then to the right, then down, and finally left to the final position. We then move the green crate to its' final position by pushing it up. To get the blue crate to its' final position, we push it up, then left, then down, then left, and finally up.

As you can see, my original is not the best solution. Granted, defining what constitutes a best solution is subjective. I consider the best solution to be the one that contains the fewest number of crate pushes though other people may consider the amount of steps the player takes to be the better indicator.
